Elementary Pre-K - 2nd Grade
What's happening in the Lower Elementary?
I hope that your family enjoyed many great holiday happenings and made lasting memories. Now we are all trying to get everyone back in the routine when returning to school for 2nd semester and making educational gains with fun and learning.
Our 1st semester ended just as we left for Christmas Break. It is hard to believe, but that means that we have begun our second half of the school year.
We have several safety drills at the start of the new semester that we are required to practice and want our children and staff prepared for, in case of an emergency. Examples of drills include bus evacuation practice, fire drill, and tornado drill, as a staff, we also discuss procedures for lockdown situations. Most of these drills we practice and/or discuss multiple times in the year to insure safety procedures are always in place!

Winter weather is upon us and school closings due to snow or ice are likely and you will receive notification from your child’s teacher and Dr. Sual. We will send out messages via Class Dojo, School Messenger, and via television/radio. We try not to dismiss during the school day, but please make sure you have “Plan B” in place for your child’s transportation, should we have to make this call. We only dismiss early if the weather is deteriorating the road conditions too rapidly and becoming a safety hazard to finish our full day of school. If they are a bus rider, someone needs to be at home and available for them when they are dropped off early. You are also welcome to call the school and make a transportation change if necessary.
Thank you for trusting us with your child(ren) and helping our school make this year so great for our students. We love our community and love molding our students with a love of learning!
