Working...
Greetings,
We are off to a great start in Career Connections, for both the Middle School and High School classes.
In the 7th and 8th grade classes, we completed our OK Career Guide self assessments, explored and discussed the six career fields and 16 career clusters. We also kicked off the NE Tech program in a box presentations, as well as our guest speaker series. Below is a list of February events:
Week | NE Tech Program | Career Clusters - Industry Speakers |
Week 4 | EAST | Marketing/Non-Profit/Human Services |
Week 5 | Criminal Justice | Law, Public Safety, Corrections, and Security |
Week 6 | ECD/Teacher Prep | Teaching/Education - Human Services/Mental Health |
Week 7 | Health Careers | Health Sciences |
Week 8 | Pre-Engineering | Engineering |
In the High School classes, we have explored OK Career Guide, reviewed our skills and interests assessment results. The students have also completed additional self assessment assignments to assist them with knowing themselves, becoming more confident, as well as learning how to talk about themselves and have a conversation. We have started discussing and learning about the essential job skills employers are seeking and we are diving into the six career fields and 16 career clusters for all jobs in the USA. In the month of February, we will begin planning our High School Career Day which will be held May 2, 2025. This will require students to contact and communicate directly with industry leaders in our community. We will also begin to explore educational planning, as well as career planning for the future.
