Dear Sequoyah Parents and Community,
The holiday season is upon us, and we’re thrilled to see the cool, crisp days of fall finally here! We had a fantastic time at our annual carnival, a beloved tradition that brings our community together for fellowship and fundraising. It was wonderful to see so many of you there! Thank you for your incredible support, from ticket and raffle sales to the many donations of candy, trinkets, and items for our booths. Because of your generosity, games were played, prizes were won, and fun was had by all!
We are especially proud to announce that our Sequoyah community came together to raise a record-breaking $79,500—an all-time district high! These funds will go directly to supporting our classrooms. Your support makes a huge difference, and we are so grateful for our tight-knit community.
We also had a highly successful round of Parent-Teacher Conferences, with over 85% of our families attending! This partnership between home and school is essential for student growth, and we look forward to working together for a successful year.
Looking ahead, please mark your calendars for our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair, November 4th through 8th. Details will be sent out soon. And don’t miss Book Fair Family Night on Friday, November 1st, from 4-7 pm—stop by with your family to shop before the football game, enjoy free popcorn, and enter for a chance to win free books!
As we approach Thanksgiving and the winter holidays, here are some key dates to remember:
- Thanksgiving Break: November 25th–29th
- Last Day of Semester: December 23rd
- Christmas Break: December 23rd–January 6th
The safety of our students is our top priority, and we appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain a secure environment for everyone. Here are some important safety procedures to keep in mind:
- Visitor Check-In: All visitors, including family members, must report directly to the receptionist’s office upon entering the school. For safety, we cannot allow visitors in the halls or cafeteria. Please bring a photo ID if our receptionist doesn’t recognize you or if additional verification is needed.
- Pick-Up Reminders: For everyone’s safety, please remain in your car. If your child needs assistance with buckling up, pull forward and stop at the end of the parking lot to avoid delays in the line.
- Transportation Changes: If you need to change your child’s transportation arrangements, please send a written note in their communication folder or call our office. We cannot accept verbal notifications from students, and all changes must be communicated by 1:45 p.m. After this time, notes are delivered to teachers, and no further changes can be made.
- Safety Drills: To ensure preparedness, we regularly practice safety drills such as fire, tornado, and bus evacuation drills. If your child mentions these drills, please know they are for practice and readiness in the unlikely event of an emergency.
- Weather-Appropriate Clothing: As fall and winter weather sets in, please dress your child in suitable outdoor clothing. Students will continue to make brief outdoor trips to the cafeteria and “Specials” classrooms each day.
We encourage you to stay up-to-date on upcoming events by checking the calendar on our website or downloading our Sequoyah School app. You can also sign up on our website to receive email updates.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 918-341-6111. Thank you for helping us create a safe, welcoming school environment for all our students!
We look forward to a safe, restful, and meaningful holiday season filled with gratitude, giving, and togetherness. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community!
Warm regards
Eric Paul
