Middle School Principal's Message
Dear Sequoyah Parents,
We made it through the first semester and the holidays and now it’s time to get refocused. Before we let out for break our 6th, 7th and 8th grade Academic teams won their district competitions. Our 6th grade team is preparing for regional competition, and our 7th and 8th grade teams are advancing to Area. In addition to that our student leadership team collected for our annual Angel Tree. Every Angel was taken and returned, and several Sequoyah families had a very merry Christmas.
This semester academic teams, basketball, soccer, track, archery, trap, and baseball will be in full swing. We are proud of the diverse areas that our kids participate in. We have a lot of support from parents and the community both in extracurricular activities and in the classroom. For that we thank you. This week SEMESTER REPORT CARDS will be coming home with your student.
First semester we had approximately 60 students who had all A’s and B’s combined with only one or two absences. That is quite an accomplishment. As you can see, academic performance and attendance go hand in hand. It is very important for our students at school every day as the second semester usually gets a little more intense. As you are all aware, the second semester is state testing time. 6th graders and 7th graders will take two state tests, and 8th graders will take three state tests. Our teachers do a great job of having our kids prepared to do well. With dedicated teachers, involved parents, and motivated students, testing here at Sequoyah Middle School is our time to excel. The staff here at Sequoyah Middle School is ready to roll up our sleeves and work hard to provide a fun, caring, and rigorous educational environment for all of our students. Thank you for giving us that opportunity.
Sincerely,
Barry Bulman
