Dear Sequoyah parents and patrons,

It’s hard to believe but over half of the school year is already gone. We are getting ready for a very hectic time of year. Our 8th grade academic team just won Regionals and Area and have qualified as a top seed for the State tournament. Our 7th grade boys’ basketball team had another undefeated regular season. The conference playoffs for 7th and 8th grade basketball will start Feb 5th. In addition STEM will be competing this semester as well as trap, track, and baseball. State testing will begin in April as well.

With all the distractions sometimes it is easy to lose sight of some of the really important things. Sometimes after a late night at one of these events it is tempting to get a little extra sleep and miss school the next day. Please remember attendance, grades, and test scores all go hand in hand. We can’t teach kids and they can’t learn if they’re not here. With that being said it takes all of us as a team to ensure success. Parents, students, families, and schools have to work together. Please help us help your students. We have parent teacher conferences on Feb 10th and 11th and would love to see as many parents as possible attend. Kids tend to work harder if they know their parents and teachers are communicating and working together. I know our kids will work hard and outperform most of the state and all of Roger’s county because that is what our community does.

Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to work with your kids.
