SCHOOL NURSE NEWSLETTER
Dear Parents:
Sequoyah Schools and I would like to extend a warm welcome to all students and their parents. I am looking forward to working with you and your children at Sequoyah Elementary School during the 2024-2025 school year. To ensure your child’s health and safety I would like to share a few items with you.
MEDICATIONS: NO child is to take or carry PRESCRIPTION OR OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATIONS TO SCHOOL. If a child must receive medications in school, we will need the parents’ signature prior to administrating medication.
Our Medication Authorization Form must be completed and signed by the parent. This form along with the prescribed mediation in its original container must be brought to school by the parent/guardian on the first day of school. All medication must be administered by the school nurse or other trained teachers if to be taken at school. If you administer medication to your child before he/she comes to school, which could affect their performance, please send in a note to the teacher.
For any problem such as allergies or asthma it will need to be reported also and the action plan from the physician needs to be renewed every year.
ILLNESS/ABSENCES: Please contact the school office in the morning if your child is to be absent and inform them why he/she will not be attending. If your child has been ill, they should be fever free without use of Tylenol or Ibuprofen for 24hrs. No vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hrs,
We ask that you review and follow our Eagle Pledge for our Three Pillars of Protection for your children.
If your child is diagnosed with any of the following communicable diseases please notify the nurse: strep throat, chicken pox, and impetigo, head lice, pink eye, viral/diarrhea illness.
Please remember that the first weeks of school are often accompanied by feelings of being tired, headaches, or minor stomach aches. Learning is very important to your child during these young years and it is important for them to be in school. We will watch for any symptoms that may worsen and notify you as soon as possible if we need you to pick up your child.
We hope this information is helpful to you. We hope you have a safe and healthy school year and if we can be of any help throughout the year please don’t hesitate to call us at 918-341-6111.
Sincerely,
Nurse Connie
